Cartagena Tourism

Cartgena is famous for it's transport comunication. This city gives differeent type of communication to it's tourist, Cartagena of Indies has many economical means of urban transport. You can use taxi services, or buses of different types: intermediate buses, executive buses, or minibuses. The buses are comfortable and air-conditioned and will take you to different neighborhoods, including the tourist area and the north area. The Metrocar service is also available. Cartagena draws legions of tourists, which in turn attracts aggressive touts and money-changers. You are more likely to be hassled here than elsewhere in Colombia but it's mainly the annoying, rather than dangerous, kind. Don't be fooled by street money-changers offering fantastic rates - they are con artists skilled at stealing your money, or they may pass counterfeit pesos.

The central Old Town is generally busy and safe to wander during the day and in the evening, when cafes and bars are open. The outer walled town, Getsemaní, is smaller, poorer and less tourist-oriented - take extra precautions here, especially at night. Taxis are generally safe and are the best option to get to places such as La Popa Hill. You can travel within the urban perimeter by taxi; the cost is low, but the price should be negotiated with the driver before starting your journey. You can choose between different classes of buses and even the taxi fare is very affordable.Taxis don't have meters so you should negotiate the fare before entering the car. Drivers are supposed to present an actual price list.In comparison with other European Union countries and, probably, due to its tourist vocation, Spain is one of the cheapest countries for travelling. Obviously, prices depends on the season. The peak season is summer and the off-peak one winter.
